The Prince of Fenway Park
Baggott on Boston TV Julianna appeared on Fox 25 and with Jim Braude on NECN, talking up The Prince of Fenway Park. About the Author Critically acclaimed, bestselling author Julianna Baggott has published fourteen books over the last ten years. She began publishing when she was twenty-two and sold her first novel while still in her twenties. There are twenty-nine foreign editions of her novels to date, and five new novels are under contract and forthcoming in the next three years. She began her career writing novels for adults. Her first novel, Girl Talk, was a national bestseller and was quickly followed by Boston Globe bestseller The Miss America Family, Boston Herald Book Club selection, and The Madam, nominated for the National Book Award. She co-wrote Which Brings Me to You with pop-culture darling Steve Almond, A Best Book of 2006 (Kirkus Reveiws) optioned by Richard Brown with Natalie Portman attached to star. Her latest novel, My Husband's Sweethearts, written under the pen name Bridget Asher, is optioned by Kevin Misher. The Pretend Wife, the second novel in the Asher brand, will be published in May. She began publishing novels for younger readers in 2004, with the first installment in the bestselling trilogy for younger readers The Anybodies (followed by The Nobodies and The Somebodies) under the pen name N.E. Bode. The Anybodies was a People Magazine pick alongside David Sedaris and Bill Clinton, a Washington Post Book of the Week, a Girl's Life Top Ten, and a Booksense selection. The trilogy was followed by The Slippery Map (fall 2007), and the prequel to Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (2007), a movie starring Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman, and Jason Bateman. Bode is a recurring personality on XM Radio - XM Kids. The Anybodies has been short-listed for Seven State Awards -- the Mark Twain Award (Missouri), The Diamond State Award (Delaware), The Maine Student Book Award, The Master List for the Pennsylvania Young Readers Choice Award, Massachusetts' Children's Book Award, The Sunshine State Award (Florida), and The Nene Award (Hawaii). With the publication of The Prince of Fenway Park, she started writing novels for younger readers under her own name. This new novel will be published this March during the fanfare of spring training. The Ever Breath, a magical novel for younger readers set in the Breath World, will be published in the fall of 2009 with Random House's Delacorte Press. Its sequel, The Ever Cure, will follow in 2010. Baggott also has a highly acclaimed career as a poet, having published three collections of poetry and having been published in the best literary publications in the country, including Poetry Magazine, The American Poetry Review, and Best American Poetry. Baggott's work has appeared in over a hundred publications, including the The New York Times, Glamour, Ms., Real Simple, and read on NPR's Here and Now and Talk of the Nation. She lives in Florida with her husband writer David G.W. Scott and their four kids, and is the assistant director of the Florida State University's Creative Writing Program. Along with her husband, Baggott co-founded the nonprofit organization Kids in Need - Books in Deed, that focuses on literacy and getting free books to underprivileged children in the state of Florida.
